Beatriz Botella, componente del proyecto SIIA, asistió al I Congreso Internacional ICT 2020 celebrado en la Universidad de Loyola en Dos Hermanas, Sevilla.

En este congreso presentó su trabajo de investigación “ICT & Cyberbullying. Future challenges”, donde se recogen cuales son los elementos que envuelven al ciberbullying y que planes de futuro encontramos ante este creciente y grave problemas entre menores a través de las tecnologías de la comunicación y la información.

Team GPLSI. Approach for automated fact checking

Fever Shared 2.0 Task is a challenge meant for developing automated fact checking systems. Our approach for the Fever 2.0 is based on a previous proposal developed by Team Athene UKP TU Darmstadt. Our proposal modifies the sentence retrieval phase, using statement extraction and representation in the form of triplets (subject, object, action). Triplets are extracted from the claim and compare to triplets extracted from Wikipedia articles using semantic similarity. Our results are satisfactory but there is room for improvement

GPLSI at TREC 2018 RTS Track

In this paper we present our contribution for the TREC 2018 Real-Time Summarization track. This task contains two scenarios: push notifications, and email digest. We participated in both, submitting three runs on each one. Our main goal was to evaluate the effectiveness the techniques employed in Social Analytics, a reputation analysis platform, which finds relevant tweets for specific topics. Here, we describe these techniques, and discuss the results obtained.

TASS 2018: The Strength of Deep Learning in Language Understanding Tasks

The edition of TASS in 2018 was the edition of the evolution of TASS to a competitive evaluation workshop on semantic and text understanding tasks. Consequently, TASS has enlarged the coverage of tasks, and it goes beyond sentiment analysis. Thereby, two new tasks focused on semantic relation extraction in the health domain and emotion classification in the news domain were added to the two traditional tasks of TASS, namely sentiment analysis at tweet level and aspect level. Several systems were submitted, and most of them are based on state of the art classification methods, which highlight those ones grounded in Deep Learning. As addition contribution, TASS 2018 released two new corpora, specifically the ones of the two new tasks.

Analysis of eHealth knowledge discovery systems in the TASS 2018 Workshop

This paper presents an analysis of Task 3 eHealth-KD challenge in the TASS 2018Workshop. The challenge consisted of the extraction of concepts, actions, and their corresponding semantic relations from health-related documents written in the Spanish language. The documents were manually annotated with a schema based on triples (Subject, Action, Target) and an additional set of semantic relations. Several research teams presented computational systems, obtaining relevant results in different subtasks. In this paper, the approaches performed by each team are analyzed and the most promising lines for future development are highlighted and discussed. Moreover, an in-depth analysis of the results is presented focusing on the main characteristics of each subtask. The overall eHealth-KD analysis has indicated that the Knowledge Discovery (KD) task, speciffically focused on concrete domains and languages, represents a rich area for further research. In addition, this study considers that the fusion of machine learning {especially deep learning techniques{ and knowledge-based approaches will benefit the KD task. Paloma Moreda, “Tecnologías del lenguaje humano para una sociedad inclusiva, igualitaria y accesible”

Paloma Moreda, Directora del departamento de lenguajes y sistemas informáticos de la Universidad de Alicante y miembro del proyecto SIIA, acudió a las “III Jornadas de accesibilidad, discapacidad y traducción: INCLUTAD 2019” para dar a conocer el trabajo que se está realizando con nuestro proyecto. Las Jornadas se realizaron en la Universidad Pablo Olavide de Sevilla.

“Retos para la inclusión y la accesibilidad en la universidad española”, llevaba el título de la mesa redonda, donde nuestra compañera participó con una charla sobre los proyectos que se realizarán en nuestro equipo y los avances que llevamos por el momento. Bajo el título “Tecnologías del lenguaje humano para una sociedad inclusiva, igualitaria y accesible”, quiso reflejar la brecha que están generando las nuevas tecnologías en las personas con diversidad funcional y los grandes beneficios que podemos extraer con el buen uso de éstas.

Paloma Moreda, Directora del DLSI, acudió a una mesa redonda con motivo de las jornadas para dar a conocer nuestro proyecto SIIA ( Tecnologías del lenguaje humano para una Sociedad Inclusiva, Igualitaria y Accesible)

En esta presentación se explico las bases de nuestro proyecto y nuestras inquietudes por hacer una comunicación accesible a todo el mundo, no solo centrado en la diversidad funcional. Además, pudimos avanzar algunas de nuestras investigaciones de los 3 bloques que componen este proyecto, lenguaje INCLUSIVO, IGUALITARIO Y ACCESIBLE.
